The Florida State Soccer Association Annual General Meeting
was September 13, 2008. Here are just some notes.
Through a participant survey, and a State Cup study committee,
FSSA has decided to change the format for future State Cups.
The current format is: Lose and your out.
The new format will now be a three game format (possible round robin),
to decide who moves on to the Finals.
It was also decided to have prizes of $1000 and $500,
for First and Second place in each division.
For 2009, The National Cup Regionals will be in Jacksonville,
and the National Cup Finals will be in Orlando.
If you enter, and are good enough to make the Regionals or Finals,
you won't even have to travel out of Florida.
There was much talk about organizing future 7-v-7 tournaments,
and maybe even a State Cup 7-v-7. This is still tentative.
We have a new Insurance Carrier ....... AIG.
Looks like the policy is pretty much the same.
But, the old forms are no good anymore.
Florida Youth Soccer Association has broken ground on
a fabulous new facility, located near Auburndale in Polk county.
This will be a "Sports" facility unlike anything else in Florida.
Eleven lighted, full size soccer fields, and one Stadium which will seat 3500.
There will be meeting and training facilities. And possibly, food service on site.
Florida Youth Soccer will use this facility as their Headquarters.
They hope to be able to attract "tournament" participants
from all over the country.
This "could" also be a great future central location for FSSA tournaments.
They want to work with us to keep the players playing
after they are out of FYSA.
