The Florida State Soccer Association Annual General Meeting
was September 12, 2009. Here are just some notes.
We have a NEW FSSA President,
Congratulations ... Arthur Mattson

And, we have a NEW FSSA Secretary,
Congratulations ... Lisa Bliskis

Feed-back on the new State Cup format was mixed.
It was expected to attract more teams, which did not occur.

The new (round robin) three game format,
to decide who moves on to the Finals.
And prize money of $1000 and $500,
for First and Second place in each division.

This format got some yeas and some nays.

Location for 2010 State Cup still up in the air.
Possibly Northwest Florida !!!

We also had the Introduction of the Mario Alarcon State Cup.

Florida Youth Soccer Association is expecting Grand Opening - October, 2009
on their fabulous new facility, located near Auburndale in Polk county.
This will be a "Sports" facility unlike anything else in Florida.
Eleven lighted, full size soccer fields, and one Stadium which will seat 3500.
There will be meeting and training facilities. And possibly, food service on site.
Florida Youth Soccer will use this facility as their Headquarters.
They hope to be able to attract "tournament" participants
from all over the country.
This "could" also be a great future central location for FSSA tournaments.
They want to work with us to keep the players playing
after they are out of FYSA.

They have invited us to use a small room at the facility
as our FSSA headquarters and possible meeting location.
Building will not be completed until late 2010.

USASA Online Registration System has some issues
with the current system that the vendor is working on.
Jennifer is serving as the Region III technology committee representative.
USASA will be requesting proposals from other vendors and will make a decision
about staying with Demosphere or going with another vendor by December.
As for our East Coast league, I can't understand why all the players disappear.
Our league keeps shrinking.

I bragged about our excellent High School program in this area.
Melbourne HS Boys won the 6A State Championship.
Melbourne HS Girls won the 6A State Championship.
Merritt Island HS Boys won the 4A State Championship.
Satellite HS Girls, in 5A, "again" reached the Final-4
before losing to the eventual champion.
